I am an Electrical Power Systems Engineer with a strong academic foundation and extensive professional experience in the field of sustainable energy systems. Currently, I am pursuing an Erasmus Mundus Master’s degree in Sustainable Transportation and Electrical Power Systems, which I am completing at the University of Nottingham in United Kingdom, the University of Oviedo in Spain, and the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra in Portugal. My studies and research focus on the intersection of electrical power systems engineering, renewable energy, and sustainable development.

Academic Journey[edit | edit source]

My academic journey began with a First Class Honours degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Kwara State University in Nigeria. During this time, I developed a passion for power systems and renewable energy, culminating in a thesis on the spatial modelling and analysis of an electrical distribution system. My desire to advance my expertise in sustainable energy led me to pursue the Erasmus Mundus Master’s program, where I have excelled in courses related to power systems, power electronics, and renewable energy integration.

Throughout my master's program, I have engaged in several research projects that align with the goals of sustainable energy development. These include:

  • Developing a review of an algorithm for optimal power distribution in distribution systems.
  • Conducting a review of Smart High Power Charging Networks and Optimal Control Mechanism for Electric Ships.
  • Designing and analyzing renewable energy systems, including a complete transition from a diesel generation set to a 100% renewable energy system for an island in the Mediterranean.
  • Designing an off-grid renewable energy supply for a health center in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Professional Experience[edit | edit source]

I have accumulated significant professional experience in the energy sector, particularly during my time at Ikeja Electric Plc in Nigeria, where I held various roles including Supervisor in Operations and Maintenance, and Network Planning and System Integration Engineer. These roles involved:

  • Managing electrical distribution networks to ensure reliable and efficient power supply.
  • Performing load forecasting and network optimization using advanced simulation tools such as PSS SINCAL and NEPLAN.
  • Leading projects that integrate data science with power systems engineering to enhance the performance and reliability of the electrical grid.

My professional journey has equipped me with hands-on expertise in high-voltage technologies, network planning, and renewable energy integration, all of which are critical to achieving sustainable energy solutions.

Research Interests[edit | edit source]

My research interests are centered on the development and optimization of sustainable energy systems, with a particular focus on:

  • Power systems engineering and the integration of renewable energy sources.
  • Renewable Energy, Solar Energy, and Distributed Generation.
  • High-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology and its role in future energy grids.
  • The impact of consumer flexibility on multi-energy districts and the potential for demand reduction and enhanced security of supply.
  • Sustainable energy solutions for low-resource settings, including off-grid and microgrid applications.

I am deeply committed to contributing to the global transition towards a sustainable energy future, and I am keen to engage in research that addresses the challenges of energy access, efficiency, and resilience.

As I near the completion of my master’s degree, I am looking forward to advancing my research and professional career in the field of electrical power and energy systems. I am particularly interested in pursuing a PhD that will allow me to explore the impact of consumer flexibility on multi-energy districts, as well as other topics related to the integration of renewable energy and the stability of future power grids.
