Fruit vines have many advantages. They can:
- be easy-to-grow useful plants
- often grow in a large pot, on a balcony
- grow up a makeshift trellis or balcony railing
- provide dappled shade, with a pleasant cooling effect in summer or in hot climates
- provide an easy supply of fruit for eating fresh, cooking, or preserving (e.g. with a solar food dryer.
