Laurel tree charter school community garden — Project by ENG215 class from Cal Poly Humboldt
Veg Out — Veg Out is that it's a place where friends, families and community groups can share seedlings, gardening tips and life stories. This modest community garden encourages people to work together, on little projects and giant ones. It also reminds us that growing our own food makes us more confident, self-sufficient, and wonderful human beings.
CCAT earthbag garden terrace — The Campus Center for Appropriate Technology (CCAT) is located near the Behavioral and Social Sciences building on the Cal Poly Humboldt campus in Arcata, California. Our original project idea was to build a small informational sign wall to welcome students to the northern entrance to CCAT, and alert readers to upcoming events hosted at CCAT. Due to bureaucratic rigamarole, this project has been changed to a natural plastering project on the CCAT grounds. This project's purpose is to provide a sturdy, natural plaster covering to the EarthBag gardening terrace being built in front of CCAT.
Potawot Wellness Garden — Encircled by the Gathering Room and the main offices at Potawot, the Wellness Garden is filled with various native plants from the Northwestern region of the U.S.W These plants are used to educate the patients at Potawot about traditional plants and herbs used in healing. These species tend to be easy to grow and maintain so as to promote self-sustainability within the community. Potawot Health Village's visitors can come to learn about the medicinal and nutritional uses of these plants, while also enjoying the serenity of nature and using it to aid in the rehabilitation process if needed. Some of the plants in the garden have a high nutritional value, but most are in place to simulate the environment in this part of California. The plants are all described in detail in the table below. [1]
