:Changed my mind on this (and since no one else had visibly taken up the idea, I didn't need to convince anyone). "Service learning" is more widely used than I had realized, and I think we're better with sticking with that one clear idea and terminology, and making sure that's understood. If we have the resources to do this (and that might be just a few keen and well-organized individuals in the community) we could possibly organize informal courses using Appropedia and other sources of content.
