I'm studying Environmental Science and Management with an option in Energy and Climate, and a minor in environmental policy. I would like to see the application of renewable energy systems into communities that need it, ones who would like to shift to cleaner energy and ultimately develop momentum in incorporating renewables in all parts of the energy sector.
Interests in Appropriate Technology[edit | edit source]
Appropriate technology gives an individual the opportunity to take overwhelming problems, incorporate invested community members and provide a solution. Personally, I am interested in the application of human power to the daily needs, whether its to simply wash one's clothing or power their home via bicycle. I am also intrigued by the application of technology to better people's lives in places where basic infrastructure is insufficient and the application of these ideas and technology to create learning environments that incorporate nature.
Experience in Appropriate Technology[edit | edit source]
I helped in the construction of a three-acre organic vegetable farm which included chickens, pigs, goats, and ducks. I currently spend most of my time researching advancements in wind, solar, bio/ algae, tidal, and stream energy systems, in particular systems that can incorporate nature into their processes.
