Needs a more general, broader introduction?[edit source]

The intro of the page currently (5 May 2013) is very oriented towards providing better transport affordably in the developing world.

While this is a very important issue, given Appropedia's now global focus, and also that a large portion of the negative environmental impact from transport occurs in large cities, esp in developed world :- I kind of feel this section needs to be re-written from a broader perspective?

And then e.g. after a broad intro, point to more specialised pages e.g. one on providing better transport in villages in the developing world, one on how to plan for a mode-shift from private single-occupancy vehicles to more shared transport in the developed world cities, etc.

Better organising Transport Organizations?[edit source]

Re the "Organizations" list on this page ... I'm wondering whether some kind of grouping by region, or primary purpose, would be appropriate ??

E.g. perhaps we could try to organise by "Global Transport Policy & Research", "National Transport Campaign Groups", etc? As the list at present seems to be most U.S. oriented mixed with some global groups.

Possibly once the list gets larger, it could become a separate page, referenced by this one?

Pat, thanks for your work on this, we certainly appreciate you taking time to share your expertise. Your suggestions sound very worthwhile to me, I would make the changes and argue about it afterwards if anyone complains. One thing though - it is worth adding comments to small each small edit rather than making major edits in one go (a mistake I made!). I look forward very much to seeing your changes :-) Joeturner 01:14, 6 May 2013 (PDT)
