Predictions[edit source]

Hmm... how many decades since Paul Ehrlich started predicting the imminent collapse of civilization? ;-)

His warnings do have value, though - we need our modern day prophets. But I'm thinking we need to present such warnings as coming from a particular source (we can all agree that Ehrlich said XYZ), not as a definite statement (which could lead to disagreement over the page). This could apply to, say, Safety of energy sources as well - I'll give some more thought to that.

Another question: what defines "collapse"? I imagine it to mean society & government breaking down, while I know others have a milder interpretation. Is there anything like an agreed meaning? --Chriswaterguy 18:20, 13 January 2013 (PST)

When the complexities of our civilization are contemplated,it seems more remarkable that it does not collapse. That begs the question of should more be done to facilitate a successful restart of civilization since a collapse is a reasonable possibility. To my knowledge there are not any realistic actions being taken in this regard.
