There are currently multiple makerspaces on Cal Poly Humboldt campus, especially:
- The Library Makerspace: The Library Makerspace run by the library! This is a fantastic entry point to working in makerspaces and accessible to all!
- The NR Makerspace: The NR Makerspace, run by the school of engineering, is often referred to as the clean makerspace because the equipment includes 3D printers, soldering stations, textiles stations, vacuum formers, etc., that need a cleaner environment. The NR makerspace will be moving in Fall 2024 to the Swetman Building (the old Child Development Lab) at which time they should be able to fit in more people!
- The FR Makerspace: The FR Makerspace, run by the school of engineering, is often referred to as the dirty makerspace because the equipment includes table saw, routers, CNC mills, lathe, drill presses, and a lot of similar equipment that produces dust and debris.
This is a landing page for the partnership between Cal Poly Humboldt's Engineering 205 course and the new Humboldt Makerspace. The Humboldt Makerspace is currently predominately for the School of Engineering, but is working to be more inclusive. This makerspace started in Fall 2023, and the projects below represent the first partnership and projects within the space.
The Fall 2023 semester of ENGR205 Introduction to Design worked with the new Humboldt Makerspace to design and develop innovative, opensource, and needed makerspace infrastructure and demonstrations that can be recreated by other makerspaces.
