It would be great to have a news feed for Appropedia's front page and/or portals - to offer a more complete experience.
Some ideas taken from a chat with naught101 - needs tidying:
- Getting a wide range of relevant news seems like the challenge.
- talk to WikiNews - they're adaptable and likely to be interested in helping customize something. We need to be specific about what we want, and talk to them about it.
- there are quite a few dedicated environment websites with news feeds
- naught101: it would be good to use that RSS feed extension with a "comment on this" type link to allow people to talk about the issue in question
- tie in with the forums.
- at the same time, we're not trying to create activity for the sake of it. I.e. we're not Facebook.
- People could use the Appropedia news feed wherever they want.
