“The soils are improving. Through this organic matter we avoid erosion when it rains, the soil is lost less during runoff. Even when there is a drought, that helps us to generate ground cover. With the project we have received training and guidance on the benefit and care of our soil. We have little availability of land. What we do we take advantage of sowing the corn crop in the first planting in May. Then when it is already in the doubling stage, we fold it and make the uncoiling. This coverage helps us to plant the second season beans, ”explains.
Catholic Relief Services (CRS) works with its partners to increase crop yields and incomes for thousands of families, restoring soil health and protecting valuable water resources. More than 40,000 people have been trained to implement these good agricultural practices. More than 3,000 farmers in five countries are now demonstrating the benefits of ASA. Work is being done throughout the region to transform deteriorated agricultural landscapes so that the benefits can be passed on from generation to generation.
