Three counties of that name in the US alone[edit source]

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humboldt_County. And another one could pop up in the U.S. or another country tomorrow. So you need truly distinctive names.

That's one good reason for using Wikpedia category names exactly whenever you want a category to cover basically the same subject-matter; they've nearly all had such elementary research done on them! Find your article's subject-matter in Wikipedia and use the most useful-looking of its categories (and give them parent categories matching WP too). No harm done if you later find one of them has very little in it; it will still have the upward category linking that ties it to similar categories.

I may lend a hand changing some of the Humboldt County to Category:Humboldt County, California if they are clearly that one.

Excellent point! I am sure they are all the California county. We have been too shy of longish category names. I would welcome the change. We will not mind your boldness! --CurtB 05:51, 31 May 2007 (PDT)
Okay, I used category.py to move the articles. Please feel very free to suggest a whole block of category changes, if you wish. I can use the bot tools to move a bunch when I have time. Or if you're bot-savvy and interested, I expect we can approve you (Robin) for a bot. --CurtB 07:03, 31 May 2007 (PDT)
